Switzerland has long been under pressure from European neighbors and the U.S. to open its bank records for foreign tax authorities. The IRS case against UBS has been partly credited with pushing the Swiss government to agree in March to comply with tax investigation rules from the 30-nation Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. UBS earlier this year named about 300 American clients in a separate case.
The case seeking the identities of about 52,000 wealthy American clients suspected of hiding $15 billion at UBS has already sent shock waves through the international banking system.
Approximately 17,000 American clients concealed their UBS accounts from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the U.S.tax-collection agency, hiding assets of roughly $20 billion in total, American officials said.
Just another case of fat headed American politicos pushing their weight around trying to push their crap upon other countries. No wonder everyone hates us.
Those who put, not hide money in Swiss banks are heros. Pizz on the American govt and pizz on the IRS.

The Swiss banks pwned America on this one. They're releasing a tiny fraction of their total client list. Also, don't look for any Swiss banks to open US offices anytime soon.
Oh, and forget about having any Swiss bank with no US offices releasing ANY records to DC. Ain't gonna happen.

The Swiss did the same thing with Britain.
You think tax cheats are heroes? Common criminals are your heroes?
Nice.
