Oregon Governor Starts Week on Food Stamps to Highlight Challenge Other Recipients Face.

If Gov. Ted Kulongoski seems a little sluggish this week, he's got an excuse: he couldn't afford coffee.

In fact, the Democratic governor couldn't afford much of anything during a trip to a Salem-area grocery store on Tuesday, where he had exactly $21 to buy a week's worth of food the same amount that the state's average food stamp recipient spends weekly on groceries.

What's even sadder is they don't except others to get off their butts and do it for themselves tried of taking care of drug dealers and addicts. Grant it there are those that don't abuse, but few and far between.
Our government does have it messed up though it's easier to collect welfare then to work. They need to revise the system and allow people to work and collect until they get to a certain income level and then take them off. Not because they made $20.00 more that work week so they get cut off!!! Help the poor AMERICANS not keep the poor AMERICANS down!!! We do more for illegals then we do for our own!!!

John 1960...is this for real?? If so, I have a new respect for a politician...even though it's a "stunt" it still is putting his money where his mouth is...that's the kind of thing that used to win hearts and votes from genuine voters. Unfortunately, though, wildberries is 100% correct in her statement that in too many US areas, it is easier to collect welfare than to work, and what she said about the system is true. So, he's proving a point using some interesting methods here, but what is his proposal for a real "fix" for the welfare system itself? Throwing money at problems usually doesn't make them disappear. This is what kills me about too many Dems...they use these emotional tactics to draw attention away from the real problems inherent in the system itself.
