I see. So you open a dialogue with the White House by sending an e-mail, and then you're offended when they attempt to continue to dialogue. Of course they responded. What did you think they would do with your correspondence? You should be glad you just e-mailed. If you'd sent a letter, then they'd have your actual physical address and the big, bad, Democratic boogie men might roust you out of bed and sequester you somewhere with all the other dissenters.

Get a grip! If your naivete and paranoia weren't so sad, I'd laugh out loud.

I heard that another person was beat up because he spoke out about the health plan. I think this situation needs to be investigated and stopped. The president talks on TV all the time, but if he is to know how we feel, we have to e-mail him and it is required that you send your e-mail address. That is required and not a request for him to e-mail us back. I know how he stands, but I felt so strongly about the move from democracy that I got brave and told him what I thought.

I would not have felt so threatened if he had mailed a letter, but I protect my e-mail and do not want the president to have it on his address book. That is my private life and he needs to stay out of it. I sent him another e-mail and told him never to e-mail me again and if he does, I will be the proof for that newsman. This is a gross invasion of my privacy and it makes me mad.

I thought when you sent an opinion to the White House they just made a list of for or against. I didn't know that they put you on any kind of list. My husband says that if it keep up, we will just change our e-mail address.
At the bottom of the e-mail will be instructions of how to unsubscribe from the mailing list. Rather than changing your e-mail or continuing to trash the e-mails, you should just unsubscribe.

True, but doing so presents special problems for some:

reading in depth...and effort.

To understand this exercise in paranoia, you must watch the video clip on the first page of the thread.

The newsman said that some of the people receiving e-mails had never had any communication with the White House. That's not paranoia. That's the White House talking when they should be listening. The administration is way out of line.
I got a snail mail post card from my republican congressman this week. OMG! He's talking to me! AND he knows where I LIVE! Some of you really have no idea how ridiculous you sound.

Nothing I said to them should have required an answer. I don't want his health plan and he could talk until he is blue in the face and I would not change my mind about that. I want a free democracy and not a socialist or communist country. My ancestors formed a democracy and it needs to stay that way if we are to remain a great country.

I hope you have some freedoms left while you are laughing. I would cry if it would help, but the only thing that will help this situation is to vote these people out of their jobs and maybe find someone that knows how to run a democracy. Socialism never works.
I am officially throwing up my hands in exasperation!

So did I! Quick, somebody call Keith Olbermann. We can't let them get away with this.

So, let me get this straight.

You sent an e-mail to the White House to express your concerns regarding a certain issue.

You now are offended that they replied to you in the same medium that you used to deliver it to them?

If you wanted them to respond by mail, you should of sent your correspondence by mail.

When someone sends you an e-mail, do you respond to them with a written letter by snail mail or do you respond by e-mail?

You opened up a dialogue with someone. When you send someone an e-mail, you are inviting them to respond in the same manner. That is not an invasion of privacy. Sending you e-mails or mail is not an invasion of privacy. It is unwelcome solicitation, but it is not an invasion of privacy.

If they were to publish your e-mail in a public forum, that would be an invasion of privacy.

It is expecially not normal to be getting e-mails from the White House when as the newsman said some had never had any contact with them. That should not have happened. And why was the newsman stopped before he gave all the facts. Somebody needs to be apologizing, and it is not the people who received the e-mails. These people are trying to intimidate people. They did it to the wrong person this time. I cannot be intimidated. They will have to kill me to shut me up.
Even worse, the Republicans were calling my house last fall before the election. Can you believe it?

LOL. I just received emails back from Boehner and Grassley.

Should I be having a meltdown too?

Breathe.
