This question will soon become very important in this country. It has been solved by a group of bureaucrats in Great Britain called NICE. The British established socialized medicine there in 1946. NICE was created in the early 90s to determine cost containment procedures to make healthcare more affordable as they were running out of money for it. They decided that it was worth $45,000 and that amount is now applied to what it might take to keep your mother, farther, grandparents, certain children and any other people not able to take an active part in keeping the nation going.
When will we get to that point? As soon as we have a group of bureaucrats that want to spend more money on healthcare for everyone so they have to determine what can be spent for that purpose. Sooner or later, it will come with socialized medicine which is being aimed at right now in Congress.

Roy. How much is it worth to the insurance companies?
Dont know how it is elsewhere but in the state of Oregon you can use state insurance to continue pressing on until your doctor calculates you have a less than 5% change to live another year. After that you can receive palliative care.
Okay? So. If you're down to the less-than-5% point, you spend out of pocket (or find another ins provider) to continue with treatment until you get up to 6%, then go back to the first doctor and resume treatment there.
If you keep reading agita crap you're going to get all agitated with nowhere to put it, because the goal of propganda is to get you wound up and frightened, not to offer solutions or encourage you to find solutions on your own.
So you'd rather the govt just "wing it" when it comes to everything? They should never plan ahead or think of what might happen?
Nobody is saying that.
But pulling something out of your vivid and paranoid imagination and arguing about THAT is disingenuous and lowers the discourse. But like I said, it's pretty much the norm, so knock yourself out.
