David Wilson, a Toyota dealer in Orange County, Calif., told Automotive News that he has been paid for only three of 92 claims he submitted before Aug. 2, leaving him on the hook for about $374,000. In total, he has 450 unpaid claims filed for $1.9 million.

"I'm worried the government will run out of money before we get paid," he told the publication.

the government has no answer to either question. in fact, the government has no clue to the answer or they wouldn't have made cash for clunkers available for foreign car purchases with american taxpayer dollars......

True, and some people would say that Americans are working at the dealers, but they forget that many parts of these cars aren't made in the USA, so at least 75% OF THE MONEY GOES TO ASIA!

This started out as just another bailout for the Big 3 and the UAW, as it was supposed to be for so-called "American" cars. I think read somewhere the Mustang has mostly foreign parts, which means theoretically one could buy a Civic or a Camry with a higher U.S./Canadian parts content.

Sen. Shelby led the charge to include so-called "foreign" cars to be included in this stupid bill, since the overseas based automakers are rooted primarily here in the South, as are most of their (mostly non-union) suppliers.
