Vice President Joe Biden today announced $1.2 billion from federal stimulus dollars to allow hospitals to modernize record keeping systems.

"This ain't government control," Biden told more than 50 people gathered before a panel discussion at Mt. Sinai Hospital on Chicago's West Side.
"We are trying to modernize. All of this sounds pretty fancy but it's about modernizing the system."

Was this part of the job creation bill?

I wonder how many people will get laid off with all of this computerizing going on?

Is this like the cash for clunker programs, where the files become ownership of the government the minute they are accessed from the hospital pcs?

Yeah, way to go Joe.. I bet they even use foreign programmers so we can laugh at the irony..

So what exactly is this supposed to stimulate? A loss of jobs will be the only possible outcome, how is this stimulating anything?

Probably stimulating India's economy by giving the work directly to the masters of the cyber-coolie sweatshops. As in other industries that could have created green work-at-home jobs for Americans, Indian cyber-coolies have decimated the medical transcription industry for American workers. Even though it has been PROVEN they are slower and perform much more poorly than Americans, the medical transcription sweatshops still are hiring more and more in India because they will work so cheap.
