Most of the right wing would rather let a Veteran starve in the dark or drink himself to death than provide enough money to house, feed and care for men too badly damaged to fend for themselves. Most of these cheapskates don't even qualify as "sunshine patriots" but only a uncaring and unworthy.

"It's Tommy this an' Tommy that
an' tommy step aside.
But it's step to the front Mr. Atkins
when the Trooper's on the tide."

to misquote Mr. Kipling.

The American Spectator : The Myth of the 46 Million

46 million breaks down
9.7 million of the uninsured are not citizens of the United States.
36 million Americans are uninsured.

In 2003, a BlueCross BlueShield Association study estimated that about 14 million of the uninsured were eligible for Medicaid and SCHIP. These people would be signed up for government insurance if they ever made it to the emergency room.

In 2007, 17.6 million of the uninsured had annual incomes of more than $50,000 (9.1 million earned more than $75,000.)

This statement is untrue.. The figure is 46 million Americans do not have health insurance. That does not mean they have no health care. Free healthcare is available to all through the health department, as well as the various free clinics all across the country. The fact is most people (esp. in the middle class) chose to go to their own private doctors for reasons of convenience, as opposed to taking a number at the HSRA and waiting all day to see a doctor.

The only possible exception are people who live in rural areas or small towns who do not have immediate acess to the HSRA, however, large private medical facilities are also absent from said locations, so either way needing medical treatment is going to require a lenthy trip. Kind of makes you wonder how many people with insurance would have difficulty recieving treatment in that situation.

Of course, this means nothing to the drama queens wrapped up in the healthcare debate, so why not read about it from the source:

HRSA Fact Sheet: Health Resources and Services Administration (http://www.hrsa.gov/about/factsheets/default.htm - broken link)

Thank you. I figured as much.

$75,000 for a household is not that much when factoring in housing, car payments, utilities, etc.

There has to be a way to provide health care where they would pay but it wouldnt be too expensive.

And not to forget, the reform is also about protecting millions who have insurance today, and think that they will be covered when they need it the most.

Talking only about public option is simply a diversionary tactic and away from the real problems (which are major reasons public option is being considered to begin with). It is also the reason why Obama promptly said that public option or not is not the entirety of the reform he is seeking.

Of course, I don't expect a significant number of people to "get it".

this information holds no water. It is old and the truth of the matter is that most households do NOT have two solid incomes.
