Average income in America $56K
Avg cost of covering family of 4 $12K

That's 22% of a families salary. THAT is just about equivilent to a second mortgage or rent.

Also..it doesn't take into account those that have pre-existing conditions that can't obtain insurance at the REGULAR rate already unaffordable.. never mind the double and even TRIPLE premiums they are charged for insurance companies that would actually cover them!!

Let's also consider that healthcare cost rise at 12% a year.. salaries at 2.5% a year!!!

And um.. there has NEVER been a study that actually determines how many of the uninsured are that by CHOICe.

On paper it looks as if people can afford it.. because they are OVER the poverty line.. BUT AGAIN.. when you factor in that cost have risen at 12% a year and actual salaries at 2.5%.. you do the math!!! Of course it becomes unaffordable!!!!!!!!!
12 grand to cover 4 people. That's a bunch of malarky.

I'm paying $200/month for family under Aetna. Nothing fancy..PPO plan. Could go cheaper if I went HMO but I want to make the choices via PPO.

oh.. and BTW.. that number is old.. that was BEFORE the recession and loss of jobs.. hence loss of insurance. I'd be curious as to what the nubmers REALLY are today!!
There are 58 foreign born physicians employed by the local health care system in my home base. It's unlikely they are 'illegals'.

Health care may be part of it, but not the main part. These jobs have been going offshore since about 2000.
THe healthcare issue has been growing since way before 2000.. it's not like it has been a problem in only the last 9 years!!!

It's actually FAR WORSE now than when it was during Clintons administration when Hillary attempted to take ont eh problem. We all know how that went.

And now we know how far worse our system had deteriorated..

But all these people above on this baord want to ignore the pink elephant in the room.. which is only going to get bigger and worse.

But that's okay right.. because right now it is not directly affecting them.. at least not in any way they can see or realize.

But as soon as it does..well I bet they will change their tune

Only.. if these people get their way. it will be much harder to address as time progresses..

What people ? What "way" are they trying to get ?
You lost me with that last statement.

Were you referring to people who are opposed to this bill ?

IBM, Verizon, ATT, Dell are just the top 4 companies that outsource overseas to cut down on overhead...btw, overhead includes health care not just salaries and taxes. The evidence began showing up again towards the end of 2008 and continues today. Where have you been?

Default The fact they did NOT report

note: $50,000 is between 200-300% of the poverty level for a family of 4. $100K is 450% of the poverty level for a family of 4.

Huh? The statistics aren't even reported properly.

Yeah...low wages is a central cause... and of course the rising price of the premium without increases in income... and then they wonder why consumerism is dying.... gee whiz.... these greedy pukes are quite amusing... just what are people supposed to be spending when health insurance goes up, energy goes up, taxes go up, food prices go up...

Well there's always Wally World (which is part of the problem rather than a "cheap" solution)...

Money has to come from somewhere. Given recent reform in credit markets the consumer cannot obtain credit. Defaults, bankrupcy, and late payments are increasing.

Yeah and the economy is all peachy and set for a big giant Obama terd.

If your debts aren't paid, better get it done before inflation sets in.
