The student was 100% in the wrong.

Quote:
Police at Lake Travis High School arrest a teenager who refused to give up cell phone in class. According to arrest affidavits, a female Lake Travis math teacher was finishing the lecture when she noticed a 17-year old student’s cell phone left open on the desk. The school has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to cell phone use in class and a teacher can confiscate a cell phone at anytime if they suspect a student is using it during class time. But when she went retrieve the cell phone, the student grabbed her hand, squeezing it until she let go of the phone. Arrest reports other students witnessing the assault state the male-student told the teacher, “Nobody touches my cell phone”. He was later arrested by campus police on felony charges.

Well hey, the little s*it should've abided by school policy. Plus, if it's true that he actually did touch the teacher, he deserves to get punished. What IS it with cellphones? People are so out of control rude regarding cell phones. I can't even imagine people walking around school w/their phones hanging from their head when I was in school...back in the days of yore.

Can you go on in detail about why you think so.

Remember I am neutral about this. I have not decided on an opinion yet.

There is no poll option for student deserved to be arrested. The only option for that is "they should be in jail for a long time".

It's pretty cut and dry.

There is a no cell phone policy at the school - students know this and know phones will be confiscated.

When the teacher went to confiscate the phone - the student grabbed her hand hard enough to make her drop the phone.

The student had no right to have a phone in school and had no right to grab a teacher.

I think he should be arrested, convicted and sentenced to 800 hours of community service - cleaning the public school student restrooms.
