I'd bet that if there was a national emergency he'd quit reading "My Pet Goat" and actually do his job.

Just a hunch.

I have no idea what this has to do with him doing something that is none of his business.

If (!Obamatron) Then
Bush_lover = true
End If

That's true. I provided the link to the official source of information (and not some commentator's interpretation of it) so that people could decide for themselves ... a somewhat radical idea, I admit.

Very good - they are suggested activities, intended - OMG! - to engage the student.

Other than some of the creepy language, it's essentially a lesson in goal setting. But the being "held accountible" and how you can help the president statements are crossing the line.
Obama will be giving a speech, something he has done countless times in the past, and frankly, it's something he's very good at. But in terms of a degree in childhood education, no ... but then, he's just talking to the kids. Does he need to hold an MBA to talk to business leaders?

As far as the "creepy language", well, right there at the top of both of the sheets of suggested activities appears this: Produced by Teaching Ambassador Fellows, U.S. Department of Education. And you don't have to dig too deep to see it.

Didn't read it very carefully then apparently. Here, let me post the link again.

President Obama’s Address to Students Across America September 8, 2009

Do you have children in school? If so, do you honestly not have a problem with our K-6 graders being subjected to socialist propaganda in order to indoctrinate their young minds. This is pure socialism man, how can you not get that? It's not just about asking kids to think about what it would be like to be president or what it takes to become president. Those items are covered in the curriculum already. Instead, during the speech, children are supposed to consider what the president is "trying to tell me to do" and "what is the president asking me to do" There are children singing songs about the greatness of Obama. It's getting ridiculous.

Also, this is a mandate straight from the White House. The NC Board of Education has nothing to do with it. And there has been no information sent home to parents about this "education" address nor any invitations to join their children at school for this "historic" event. When asked about accomodations for parents to come and view this message, the school board said they had no information. That's because this message is not meant for adult eyes, this message is specifically for the little ones.

I for one will be sending a letter to school to ask about their plans for Tuesday. It is not supposed to be mandatory for North Carolina schools to participate in this event, but in the end, if they want those government funds to keep flowing, they will do whatever the White House really wants them to do. And of course, the White House wants them to participate. My children will not be subjected to this sort of rhetoric. There is nothing that man needs to say to my children that he doesn't need to say to all Americans. So if this is so important, he needs to address the nation. If not, he will be treated like any other adult who wants to be alone with my children so they can "talk". There may be no escape from the mass mind rape, but this is one situation I can take control of.

Was he teaching them about politics?

The last place I would want my kids to learn about politics is from a filthy politician.

Yep another sheep here. He was reading children's books with them. He didn't ask them to read HIS speeches nor did he ask them to read HIS books. If you are ok with your child being brainwashed by this lunatic's speeches and his marxist radical books, by all means go for it. You do know that every leader in the world who tried to impose his beliefs on the children in school, making them join a "youth Brigade" and creating a civilian security force, ALL turned out to abuse the power and turn into evil dictators. You do know that right? Why is it so hard to learn from History with some of you people? Do you think that Barack Obama is the "allmighty" one that will be the first in world history to pull this off without going down the same road as all the rest did? Have you ever heard the term "if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't true"?

If we each think outside our own preconceived ideas it might make better sense.
When in history has a sitting POTUS had the chance to empower and enthuse so many historically "disadvantaged" children? For those who have wailed about welfare mothers and 'thugs' (while they really meant low income minorities) - here is a president who can inspire kids to study hard to DO BETTER THAN THEIR PARENTS and BECOME PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS.
He won't be telling them how to vote, for God's sake...he will be showing leadership...and instilling PATRIOTISM (remember what that is?)
Show some respect...if not for the man, at least for the office.
Your kids may not remember what Obama says, but they WILL remember if you act like a rude spoiled teenager about his message.
