ATLANTA - The city that became a post-civil rights movement emblem of the political power held by African-Americans could have a white mayor for the first time in a generation — a possibility that has some in the black community scrambling to hold on to City Hall.

Atlanta is a mess. It's the model for a democrat controlled government. A basket case. Financially it's 100+ million in the red. And it is the poster child for political patronage. On a per capita basis the size of the city government dwarfs that of cities much larger. In the last five years two affluent areas, Sandy Springs and Johns Creek seceded and became their own cities.T he very tony area of Buckhead is pondering doing the same. Basically the rich folk are tired of sending good money after bad. It is Buckhead taxes that fund Atlanta and they're tired of seeing no return on their money.

Buckhead secession movement gains steam — and gets heated | Fresh Loaf

p.s. And Atlanta is a cultural wasteland. It's basically one giant shopping mall.

Atlanta needs more competent leadership than it's had in the last 30 years. The fact that this may well be a white person has absolutely nothing to do with it I'm quite sure.
