In a frank conversation with MSN writer Lawrence Ulrich, Audi of America President Johan de Nysschen has said that the Chevy Volt will fail and that anybody who buys the car is an idiot. Not only that, de Nysschen has lumped proponents of any type of electric car into a category of "intellectual elite who want to show what enlightened souls they are."

Actually, anyone who actually pays money for a Chevy is probably an idiot...

-and Audi's new R8 ePerformance Electric Concept Vehicle isn't for idiots?

- if you insist on buying an expensive German car there are better & more reliable picks than Audi

I'm not necessarily a fan of German cars, but I do think Chevys are unreliable garbage, and I'm even less inclined to ever buy a Chevy now that GM is Government Motors.

I have to say... price point and future liabilities... the statement is in fact correct... its NOT to say that the innovation is bad because it is VERY good but the technology hasn't really matured enough for public usage... I mean, why pay $40k for a car that batteries expire at 100k miles? Why pay that much when it costs $20k for a new battery after that... why pay $40k for a car that when you are driving up a steep incline and it runs out of battery, it can barely make it up the hill... but its a GREAT car because it is moving in the right direction... however whoever buys it, may be an idiot if they aren't aware of its limitations... however, if you buy it for the sole reason of decreasing CO2 emissions and are willing to pay that much money and know its limitations than you are a smart person... unfortunately most people buy a car (nowadays) for saving them money (and looks good) which means most people would be idiots if they buy the car...

That aside... I think Audi makes great cars... the A8 is particularly nice... I wouldn't hate a car manufacturer based on what they think (however correct they are)... now if they took bailout money... FORGET them...
