My son attended the speech and had a note on him in case he decided not wanting to watch it or to avoid to have to write his goals.
He recently had to write his goals for later in life as he has done before on request of the school/county guidance counselor. This because he was entering HS and graduating from the gifted advanced program.

Only one student left the class not to watch the speech but many students weren't at school the entire day and many parents had objected before so the school had given out a note that students didn't have to watch if the parents thought otherwise.

My son gave the note to his teacher to avoid having to write his goals but the teacher decided that nobody needed to write them since it had nothing to do with her class (AP human geography).

All students had the choice to watch or to make their home work during the speech...which every student took advantage off and they were grateful to have less homework when they came home.

Btw due to the presidents speech all tests had to be cancelled for today and many teachers were mad about it and so were the students who studied hard for it, but of course have another extra day to go over it.

Is that what he told you?

Sounds like an extremely disorganized school.

Must have been the East Coast because either he called his mom from school or he's home already.
