For all you conservatives who are screaming about Socialism, do your children attend public schools?

Yes, and 9/10 public school systems are in deep trouble. Dumbing down advanced kids to put them in educationally "balanced" or "diverse" classes. Just check US education rankings against so many other nations. Last I heard we were 10th or below.

Just this year I put my girls in the brand spanking 2-year new MS about 4 blocks from my house.

Before this year, they have always attended Catholic School, but we had a falling out in the Spring - the school/church refused to get rid of a very un-catholic teacher.

So now they are in a wonderful school - that my exorbitant property taxes pay for.

We remove kid from school because school won't fire, "un-catholic" teacher, so we then enroll in a public school where catholicism is null and void? It is me or is there a logical component missing here?

Not just your taxes, but your taxes along with everybody else. Guess socialism on your terms is just fine. Why am I not surprised?

What, the "No Child Left Behind" Act didn't work? Big surprise. Maybe the next time the government wants to *help* kids actually learn they will talk to educators and ask opinions on how to better educate our children so we can get out of 30th place in the world!

Please tell me that you are smarter than that, surely you are not trying to hold up the government education system as a succesful example of the government doing something well!! Quite the contrary!! And the answer is no!

No. Always the Catholic school system. The fact that I have to pay for "public education" that we never use is irritating. I would much rather use the money for additional scholarships to the catholic schools so that at least the money would be well spent and other kids would get a good education as well. I already provide several scholarships for that purpose.

You're admitting that a good public school could actually exist? I would never have expected that from you. But if it's wonderful, then it sounds like you're getting your money's worth. That's good.
