She died at the age of 115 years old..RIP!

If the health care was so bad how did she became the olest living person?

How much more proof?

Some people have better genes (like have no history of cancer) and living habits. Sadly, this is not the case with everyone.

I remember her saying that she never drank or smoked or got high. If I heard right (correct me if I am wrong), she was born in Japan.

May she rest in peace.

"Gertrude Baines said she attributed her longevity to not drinking or smoking."

Gertrude Baines, world's oldest person, dies at 115 - CNN.com

Sounds to me like she took care of herself. Good for her!

Taking the question literally, she became the oldest living person in the world when, in January, the then-oldest person in the world died.

"Born in 1894, Baines became the world's oldest person in January after the death of another 115-year-old, Maria de Jesus, from Portugal, Guinness World Records said."

Medicare works. Nationalize health care for everyone.

the oldest person to ever live, according to the guinness book of world records, was jeanne calment, from (socialist!!!) france. 122 years old.

Validation of Exceptional Longevity - Jeanne Calment: Validation of the Duration of Her Life

discussing individual people who happened to live a long time doesn't really say anything about a health care system though.

and yeah, good point sagran - this woman was on medicare for 44 years, since its inception.

When 115 is the rule and not the exception.

From wikipedia:The longest unambiguously documented lifespan is that of Jeanne Calment of France (1875–1997), who died at age 122 years and 164 days.

Must have great health care in France.

Anyone who thinks this is "proof" of anything related to health care in the US is a simpleton.
