What Are America's Principles, Ethics and Ideals?
Something I've wondered about a long time.
Does America (especially since 1980) have principles, ethics, and ideals?
Please no one word responses, such as "freedom", "liberty", etc.
We have none. We simply beg Godvernment to give us everything that we desire. We are a nation of thieves who steal from one another through Godvernment force...

One that states America has no principles, ethics, nor ideals. Who else?
Get THEM before THEY get US
Spend like a whole SHIP of drunken sailors
Borrow from the enemy, and then call them a friend
Call people who question the government "traitors"
Brag about how you are THE Superpower
"America", when defined as a 'First World' society, is an artificial concept, 'ruled' over by consent of the ruled. It's not a hereditary society, or a meritocracy, and it's not the 'natural' state of mankind. It takes some 'learning' (assimilaton), and it takes a certain amount of cooperation to make it work.
America, as defined above, emphasizes a voluntary submission to the law, rather than 'force'; it emphasizes a sense of loyalty to 'nation', rather than to ethnic group or tribe; it requires all of us to be able to 'trust in strangers', rather than relatives or friends; and it's SUPPOSED to emphasize our 'similarities', rather than seeking to 'celebrate our differences'. It recognizes the "good of society" as being more important than the quirks or desires of any individual....and, in the absence of any over-reaching, smothering network of 'laws', it emphasizes a LARGE amount of voluntary self-discipline in order to 'get along' with our diverse and varied fellow citizens.
That, at least, is the 'theory'. Is it working? I don't know.....not always like it's supposed to work, I think it's safe to say.....
Thanks for the tip. I think the book is about 750 pages. That stops me. Doesn't Ayn Rand believe that capitalism is the highest achievement of civilization?

I was hoping to hear from some of the conservatives.
Apparently, none that can be agreed on....and none that wouldn't bring about an ACLU lawsuit if anyone chose to object to it.
Good question, though!...
