Instead, the answer has more to do with the fact there are far more children born to teenage mothers in the U.S. than in Canada - and that many more U.S. teenagers are addicted to TV.
Statistically comparing data on more than 8,000 U.S. and Canadian teenagers, Zhang discovered one key factor explaining U.S. violence rates was the much higher rate of teenage mothers in the U.S.
Children born to teenage mothers are much more likely to be violent - and three per cent of U.S. youngsters had teenage mothers, compared to virtually no (. 04 per cent) young people in Canada.
Oak Hill and the city jail? Consider the youths in the juvenile justice system. Many are sons who were born to teenage mothers. Miller's organization points out that these youths are three times as likely as other boys to end up in the justice system.
I can see how this works. Having too many teen parents especially in already poor areas means you will have more teen mothers dropping out of high school,no diploma/good job prospects,few if any will get married to the teen father so you get more single mother headed homes this all contributes to more poverty and just by being young both parents aren't mature enough to raise their kids properly.
This is why I've said before that if we can reduce teen pregnancy especially in low income areas we will over time see a big reduction in several social problems like poverty,drop outs,female headed homes,crime/incarceration etc.

You would have to remove the financial incentive (government handouts) for teen parenthood, first. What are the chances of that?
It always comes back to Dad. Pregnant teens are less likely to have the "baby daddy" around. When Dad is not around to discipline, this is what we get.
