That's the reality of how the PO would eliminate the private sector insurance, and anybody who actually gives it any thought and can be intellectually honest with themselves can put those pieces together pretty easily.

Even if the government imposes a penalty on me for not providing my employees with insurance, it's likely to be less than the cost of providing it, so it'll still be cheaper than offering it to my workers.

It's very clear that - to use the President's words - a "public option" is indeed a trojan horse.
So, the Public Option would be good for small business

Re-read your post and think about the part about the penalty. Why are you so willing to shrug your shoulders and accept this over reaching by the government? Think about it. Health insurance and other fringe benefits are offered by employers to attract and keep the best workers. Offering those fringes is entirely voluntary. The only thing you as an employer owe your employees is the wage they contracted for. When did fringe benefits become a right? Can't you see that when you allow government to arbitrarily add to your overhead you essentially allow it to make you less competitive? If you look at the migration of business from the northeast and the Rust Belt you'll read a history of government mandates squeezing businesses to the point that they fled, first, south, and then off shore. Socialism is killing business, jobs, homes and lives. Wake up, America! The American Dream is being stolen from you right before your eyes and you're letting it happen.

If the govt. requires every employer to offer insurance or pay a penalty, there would be a level playing field in this country. All other industrialized countries have UCH, as do many "third world" countries. This would not hurt business.

Aren't most Medicaid programs funded at both the federal and state level?

I am a small business owner who offers health insurance to my employees provided they pay the premiums of close to $1500 a month for a family. It works out to shy of $350/week. If I were mandated to pay for their insurance, it would make my overhead rise dramatically in comparison to local businesses which hire illegals or pay off the books.

You forget free trade with countries like China. More will be outsourced to those countries.

What makes you think you would have to do anything different than you are now doing? I'm not familiar with every last detail in the plans, but I think by offering the insurance you are doing what would be required of you.
