I honestly think it is just a lie to gain and maintain support from the GLBT community, but if (and its a big IF), he does get it repealed, I might gain some respect for him.

I hope he does - it's a pointless law that's keeping a lot of very intelligent and capable people from doing a job they want to do, and many people are perfect for positions they can't have just because they were born liking men or women.

I didn't like any of the voting options. I think he will because with the war in Afghanistan/Pakistan spooling up, he will have problems with retention. He will need all the troops he can get.

he is desprate
his polls are tanking
he is a laughing stock for having been give the nobel peace prize
he will do anything to hold on to any part of his base that is leaving him in the dust
he gave no time limit, he is pandering nothing more, if he were serious he would make it happen now
with, by the way, great fan fare
gays should be able to serve open and with out fear
they are just as much heros as anyone else
shame on Obama and his lying ass

I don't think he will repeal "DADT". He will however, use it as a bargaining chip to get more pressing issues taken care of.

Gotta keep the carrot on a string, plus he can triage the liberals to garner more J6P moderate votes by opposing openly gays in the military. To h*** with the liberals he says! Reminder to liberals: don't forget to vote Democrat in 2010!

There's only one Democrat who has my vote locked in - and that person is whoever runs against Michelle Bachmann
