California, today is divided in 2 countries, Alta California is held by the USA and Baja California is held by Mexico. This wasn't always the case. Alot of people view our Baja Californians brothers to the south as Mexicans, but just as they are Mexicans to us we are Gringos to them. What we do have in common is a California history, heritage and culture. Just as Californians are viewed very differently by the rest of the USA, Baja Californians are also viewed in that same light by the rest of Mexico.
The solution would be to unite the Californias under their very own republican form of goverment (No Socialism, Communist , ect..)
Im sure Washington DC and Mexico City would throw a fit over this, but I think they underestimate the power and influence of Los Angeles and San Francisco.

We as Californians have already expierenced our very own Republic. In 1846 we had our own constitution, militia, capitol, flag and everything eles that goes along with being an independent nation. This happened just before we joined the US and right after we left Mexico via the Bear Flag revolt in the town of Sonoma.

Now there are many pro's and con's to being your own country but I assure you that the pros heavily outweight the cons for most of the cons would apply to Mexico and the USA losing such a rich, great and prosperous territory. The founding fathers battled England because they didnt want to pay taxes to London, an imperial city 3,000 miles away on the other side of the ocean. Well, we Californians no longer want to pay taxes to the Imperial cities of Washington D.C and Mexico City, capitols about 3,000 miles away on the other side of the continent. They do not hold the best interest of California so it is time we as Californians look after ourselves and our best interest.

The purpose of this thread is to bring awareness to this issue and to have an intelligent discussion about the pros and cons of Independence and anything eles related to Californias sovereignty and Re-Unification with Baja California , Hence "FREE THE BEAR". and "TEAR DOWN THE WALL" slogans. (the wall being the BORDER fence separating USA from Mexico but at the same time splitting California in 2)
May the California Republic live on!!!!!!
Viva la Republica de California (for my Baja brothers)

That is a very good question but a question that has already been addressed in the California constitution. It says in the California Constitution that all goverment and public documents be written in english and spanish. So we would therefore have 2 official languages. But there is still more enlish speakers then spanish speakers in california as of today even if you counted baja california in the equation. So I would lean toward English as the langauge that is spoken in goverment and buissness matters but at the same time heavily respecting the spanish language as well.

What Ima about to say might get people alittle bit upset, but good! But good that what Im here for, Im here to stir the pot up.
Throughout history we have seen giant imperial countires splitting communites in 2. From the US/Soviet wall in Berlin to the Isreali/Palestine wall in Jerusleum.
Now we have the USA/Mex wall dividing beautiful California in half. Here is some imagery from what I like to call the California Wall (otherwise known as the US/MEX Border fence)
I could sit here and type till my fingers fall off but i figure a picture says a 1000 words.

I see this isn't your first thread on the subject. Do you hate living under the United States flag so much that your only solution is for California to declare independence? (And suppose other Californians don't jump on your bandwagon? What do you do then--form a guerilla army, or move to Baja California and start an insurrection from the Mexican side of the border?)
