Yet when he campaigned, he certainly didn't say he was open to continuing the war. Why is that? Oh, that's right he might not have gotten elected if he would have been honest.

He always emphasized focusing on Afghanistan, and some of the things he suggested impressed me. Hopefully, it is the direction we will see this war take. In fact, this isn't about Afghanistan anymore. Greater threat lies with Pakistan, an already unstable democratic state but with nuclear power.

We must begin with identifying the enemy, however. It is not Taliban, as people have been led to believe since 9/11. We fed some snakes in the 1980s for political gains, now we're paying for it.

There were some soldiers in the last few years who killed their wives because of medicines the military gave them. I knew a few from the Viet Nam war who took a long time to get themselves back.
