...but there are no guns in England, I thought they were the shining example of the success of gun control?
Actually some citizens can still own some types but it is very strict and handguns are banned completely which criminals still seem to get hold of despite.
But it is a myth about Britian and Europe being gun crime free, in fact crime is becoming more brutal and common in Britian.
I would link but you know how uptight C-D is about *hinting* that there may be an outside world besides C-D on the net. Which of course there isn't! THERE ISN'T! You are merciful C-D! YOU ARE MERCIFUL!!!
You can take the claim awash however, but it has become common to hear crime/violence reports in Britian and more and more common to hear it involving a firearm.

The UK has more violent crime than the US. Vermont, NH and Maine are safer places to live than most of the UK.
Having just returned from the UK i can assure you that the streets are not "awash" with guns or gun crime. British bobbies do not carry firearms and only special units of police are allowed firearms. A gun epidemic in the UK is probably equivalent to a neighbourhoods gun crime here in the U.S. The Brits do not have guns in their homes or even need them. This kind of article about the UK is over exagerated and should be seen for what it is...b/s.

Not "exaggerated" and not "BS"
LONDON - Wielding submachine guns and pistols, British police are making rare armed patrols in crime-blighted London neighborhoods — a change in law enforcement tactics that may prompt calls for the wider use of weapons by the country's traditionally unarmed Bobbies.
London's police department said Friday that a new armed unit is carrying out regular sweeps of districts riven by gun battles between rival drug gangs.

I doubt you were in the bad areas. The areas most people visit over there aren't too dangerous relatively speaking but venture out to some areas...
As for not "needing" them...violent crime is quite present over there, so I think otherwise, but a person defending himself against a violent criminal there can face longer prison sentences than the criminal...crime thrives in such an environment, where they know they can do anything and their victims are defenseless...
