Woman recants story of West Virginia abuse - CNN.com

I remember hearing this story back in 2007. Rev. Al was all over this one.

Why did she even try that stunt? Wasn't she aware of the Tawana Brawley fiasco?

Al Sharpton made his bones with that story too. What an ass.

Because people are in prison because of her. I see the prosecutor also is looking to preserve his career.

Slow down, if you followed this story, it was not just Al Sharpton that jumped on these people with the full force of justice. I certainly hope she didn't lie, i'm really hoping for the sake of all rape victims that is not true. I have to say that I am skeptical though on the about face. Considering the investigation that they performed on this case. They did not take this lightly and even back then there were questions.

Not a Sharpton fan at all and maybe he's trying to detach himself from this, but it was a good move for him to immediately put that letter out there to the prosecutors.

This was very surprising news yesterday. She was in a bad way physically and emotionally when they found her, and all 6 accused pleaded guilty. Strange turn of events indeed.

They were given plea bargains. Many, many innocent people take plea bargains rather than risk losing at trial and getting longer sentences.

Exactly....
For those who are ready to jump on the Sharpton is to blame and Tawana Brawley bandwagon, lets just hope for the sake of potential and future rape victims that this is not the case. I for one will be watching this development very closely

Me too.

I do love the title though....guess the title CNN had "Woman recants story of West Virginia abuse" wouldn't have drawn as much attention.
