The rich are philanthropic because they have to be, and yet the general public still benefits from their "generosity", however forced it may be. We have museums, performance halls, animal shelters and the like at the behest of the rich. I say thank you. Do we want to bite the hand that feeds us?
That's what you do when you are on a losing side of an argument? Turn it into politics? No surprises there when you want a real argument... you turn tail and run and try to hide your defeat with political mumbo jumbo...
Your forum page is plastered with slogans about how much you hate socialists. It's silly and it makes it difficult to take you seriously, and it's obvious you are here to argue your agenda, and everything you say is just rehashing well known right wing philosophies. Seen it a million times....

a prime example...the AMT (alternative Minimum Tax) was designed to impose a tax on the wealthy...well since they havent moved to 'goalposts'...now many middleclass people get hit with it
remember this what is wealthy today, might be the middle or even poor tomorrow......ie a house in 1950 only cost 5k,,,same house today 500k,,,thats costs, the same goes for income

The wealthy ARE paying 36% Federal tax... thats almost 100% more than what most people pay... as of the tax rates now, almost HALF THE COUNTRY pays ZERO taxes... are they "helping" America then and this shows how much they "care"? When did paying more taxes equal "caring" more about America? Are you saying that if you work more, put more in effort and education, become successful through your OWN work... you should pay more? Huh? This is what you think is fair? I guess people like you who like having other people's money without working for it... oh yeah, socialists...
Fair is fair... if they put in the effort and education to become successful then that's what is rightfully theirs... just because you don't have any of the attributes of success doesn't mean you have a right to steal their money...

Yes. If you become rich and successful you should pay more. That is what I think.
Ideally. We could end the rampant waste and corruption in the government. But that is not going to happen unless there is a revolution. So we NEED taxes with our current system and current governement.
If you try to tax the poor any more, that will be like squezzing orange juice out of a dried up old orange peel. There just isn't anything to take except some chump change.
Rsprow the rich are really the government. They have purchased policyand have been for quite some time. As a result policies that have been put forth have strangled the middle class while deepening the pockets/ profits of the Corp. Government is fine if it is indeed not sold out to the highest bidder. Just lookat the public option in the healthcare bills and the seeming opposition. 65% uf the population wants it. Insurance companies do not and those most strongly opposed in our government are those that receive the most from insurance companies.
Those with the most have wielded ther power for too long and their greed has gotten out of control. It amazes me those that oppose limiting obscene CEO incomes that are just that obscene! Since that would only apply to companies tht we the people bailed out it only makes sense that we the people through our arm which is the government wield somesort of control and restraint.
Government is not the problem what is the problem is the segment with the largest wealth controlling policy at the behest of the rest of the countries citizens.
