I just got a letter from my union local saying that they are very angry at the prospect of getting taxed on the HC insurance plans, but have no objections to other companies getting taxed for them. I find this dispicable because they aren't willing to make any sacrafices. They vote Dem every single election which means they supported Obama which also means they support whatever HC policy comes out. This is typical Democrat action, they're all for the ideas if it doesn't involve them. I'm seriously thinking about dropping out of the union, they have no morals and are completely corrupt.

If I were a dem official, I wouldn't have to worry about the union because I know they will still support me. Free milk, don't buy the cow.

Bill Clinton jammed Nafta past union objections, hurting them badly and they still haven't seen the light.

I'm not saying they should vote republican, I'm just saying that if you want to have some real power...you can't be taken for granted.

However, having lived in Chicago...most of the union leadership is related to or good friends with the democratic politicians. They really don't represent the membership but rather are just a way of bundling votes and contributions.

American's will be keeping a very keen eye on how Obama and Democrats handle this particular conundrum the union's are experiencing. If the constituency perceive that union's get special treatement at the expense of other taxpayers, you can count Democrats out in 2010 and 2012. Bet on it.

I'll take a beer!

What you said is what makes me mad. They "expect" special treatment because they support the DNC, but will throw everyone else right under the bus. I don't like that type of behavior from any political party supporter. I feel that we are ALL in this together and "what is good for the goose is good for the gander".

I think you guys missed my earlier point. The dems will throw the UNIONS under the bus before the rest of us...because we MIGHT vote republican. Ironic? yes.

They have 3 years. They can throw us under the bus and whip out the rest of that stimulus money in spring 2012 and win the hearts of the people back in time for elections.

Might be my own tin foil here..but there's stimulus money sitting on the shelf while they talk it up in DC about "stimulus #2".

It is nice to see a union member that can think for him/her self.
