If your houses are worth less now than a year or two years ago, have your property taxes gone down?

I caught the very tail end of Rush Limbaugh talking about this on the radio but did not catch the discussion on it although I did hear him say it's really about them taxing you for as much as you're willing to pay.

No. They're going way up here in Chicago and the suburbs.

Mine went down by about 8%, due to a decrease in the valuation of my house.

Chicago is a corrupt tax trap suffering under one-party rule. Rest assured that the friends and families of the Chicago politicians will enjoy taking your tax money by not showing up for fake jobs, by selling the city products they'll never deliver etc etc. and then make generous political contributions to their benefactors.

Yeah, gotta love those Chicago Democrats.

Is the rest of the U.S. up for more of the same? Think about exactly who Obama brought with him...

No. It's because people in other parts of the country will actually cross party lines. Since people in Chicago blindly vote for the same party they deserve the tax pounding they get.

For what it's worth, it doesn't matter WHAT political party it is, this is just what happens in areas dominated by a single political party.

mine has gone up slightly and will do so again next year.

Actually, if all houses are dropping in value or all are going up in value, it should have no bearing on the $$$ amount of your property taxes.

Whether your local govt or local school districtis is raising its budget or lowering its budget is what really should determine ones taxes.
