Michigan's Governor Granholm is playing chicken with the legislature because she wants a tax hike and our reps realize that with a 15.3% unemployment rate this is the worst possible time for a tax increase. Granholm is completely out of touch, but she has her base of support in the unions that have given us our 15.3% unemployment rate and people who simply choose to not work for a living. In Michigan that is all you need to get elected governor.
I always love it when these states have economic issues, and the last thing they'll downgrade are the numbers of police officers.
Hell, when I was in Michigan, they laid off social workers, firemen, and just about every other public job before laying off police officers. Yet, I always saw them out on the interstates trying to pull people over for 5 miles an hour over a ridiculously low speed limit.
Florida is no different. Here its worse, if you've got an out of state plate. Then they know you are less likely to go to court and fight the ticket.

Wow, and none of these states are in the BOTTOM 10 of per capita income, leaving the poorest states in relatively good condition. What's up with that? Could it be that they are BLUE in political philosophy?
