Of course business leaders could care less about China's human rights violations in Tibet, they just care about how much the Chinese work force will add to their bottom line - but our president should hold them to a higher standard in order to win our business - not that Bush ever cared.

"Meanwhile, a senior aide said, following claims Washington had soft-pedalled the dispute to placate China that US President Barack Obama will not specifically mention Tibet in his speech on Asia policy on Saturday,.

"Obama was set to deliver one of his signature speeches encompassing a wide array of political and diplomatic challenges on the second day of his Asian tour in Tokyo, before heading to a regional summit in Singapore.

“He will not mention Tibet, he will of course mention our commitment to the rights and freedoms that we believe all people should have,” said Ben Rhodes, Obama’s national security adviser for strategic communications.

Tibet’s exiled spiritual leader the Dalai Lama in October made his first visit to Washington in 18 years that did not include a meeting with the US president.

Critics of Obama said he avoided an encounter so as not to upset Beijing before his high stakes debut visit to China, which begins on Sunday, and includes talks with China’s President Hu Jintao.

Aides said Obama would raise the issue of Tibet and human rights privately with Hu, and said he looked forward to meeting the Dalai Lama later this year."

If only Tibet had oil, we could feign us upholding human dignity and human values and do something about the people there. Else it is too expensive and impractical - Tibet will be ignored.

China has us by our nuts. Not only we (Rs/Ds regardless) will make no noises about Tibet, I bet we will do nothing if the Chinese decide to take over Taiwan.

Are you kidding? Do you really think this president is going to buck china? Get real. Obama actually snubbed the Dalai Lama when he came to Washington a few weeks ago in deference to the Chinese. Barak Obama is the first President of the United States of America since FDR who is NOT the most powerful man in the world.

Barak is in China to pay respects to his banker. He has his hat in his hand and a man in that position can’t really stand up for justice to the banker now can he?

If Tibet had Iraq's oil, we would be embroiled in WW3 already.

Perhaps we should bomb them into our way of thinking. Seems to have worked so well in Iraq hasn't it?

China owns over 787B of our debt. We are not in a position to demand anything.

Might want to pay back the Billions we have borrowed from China first, might want to get out bed with them business wise secondly. Nope, never gonna happen.

When applying for a loan, it's usually not best to start by insulting your banker.
