But 8 months ?? And it wasn't even the wife that made that call to 911.

If you have nothing to begin with...then they can't take anything from you.
Plenty of uninsured use the ER for trivial maladies..because they have no insurance.
With his weight..they probably couldn't get insurance.

The wife should have called 911 after a few weeks.

I'm getting so sick and tired of having to ask people this question around here!

DID YOU BOTHER TO READ THE ARTICLE????

The man went into the hospital for a knee injury and was sent home because they had no insurance to keep him there for treatment or recovery. When he first arrived home, his wife TRIED to find help for him, but couldn't get anyone to come to them to provide it, and he COULDN'T get up from the chair because of his KNEE INJURY.

"Everybody kept telling us, if you get here, we'll help you. We didn't have no way of getting him up, and nobody was willing to come help us," Ada Webb said. "He just kind of said, 'it's in God's hands' at that point."

Denial and pride killed him, obesity was just the symptom. There is healthcare available for the uninsured. It is sad, no doubt, but if he really wanted to live he would have swallowed his pride and dialed 911 when he discovered he could no longer get out of his chair (or had his wife call for help).

"A police report said he weighed about 800 pounds, but his wife said he was closer to 500 pounds."

His wife was in denial too as evident from the phrase above.

Is it just a coincidence that MSNBC marches out the victim parade of tragic "uninsured" stories while Obamacare is headed for a cloture vote on Saturday evening? I'm sure that there are plenty of "happily ever after" stories of uninsured who were helped by the kindness of charitable organizations and physicians volunteering their time & resources. Why doesn't MSNBC print those this week??? Color me skeptical but I suspect Chris Matthews still feels that tingle up his leg.

Uh...I guess it could happen to anyone...sort of.

He was ashamed he didn't have health insurance? LOL! Boy the wife jumped on that one quick, didn't she? Ada must be a left winger and does not accept personal responsibility just like her husband.

His wife was in denial too if she thought he didn't need help and would just lose the weight and walk one day. Don't blame society for his being uninsured and not seeking help. He chose his fate. The compassion of his wife did not save him. What he needed was a swift kick in the *ss to get him out of the chair and back in the world of the living.
And I guess reading for COMPREHENSION isn't your strong suit, is it?

He was never "no longer" able to get out of the chair. He was told by the paramedics who took him home that the moment he was placed there he'd never be able to get out of that chair. Those people KNEW what position they were putting that man in, AND LEFT HIM THERE TO ROT, ANYWAY!

In addition, as I pointed out in my previous post, his wife DID try to get him help. They tried for several weeks, but everyone kept telling them he'd have to come to them, they wouldn't go to him! How the hell was he supposed to do that when paramedics left him stuck in a chair with a knee injury that prevented him from getting up???
