England is now teaching actual science in schools. This is the thing that republicans, especially under Bush, feared the most. Even more than 'socialism' and I think the USA could actually embrace science in the future too. Check it out: BBC News - Evolution and history compulsory

An old friend of mine once said:

"With science man flies to the moon
"With religion man flies into buildings"

Why don't you just write a thread that says "I hate republicans - hear me vent" and every week or so start another one with the same title and vent some more?

You have nothing to offer but hate. Oh, but you represent the tolerant, empathetic, caring liberals who are not like those nasty, closed minded, bigoted republicans.

1) Im registered independent, and don't consider myself liberal.
2) Being anti-Bush doesn't make me liberal.
3) I have nothing against republicans, only republicans who supported Bush. I am anti-Bush not anti-republican.

The conservative Republicans do stress faith over fact and do oppose teaching science and the scientific method of inquiry in public schools and do not teach science in their private schools. They are doing their children a disservice. Faith teaches people to listen and believe without any thought about what sort of nonsense they are hearing.

Science teaches skepticism and to be critical of any revealed truth until you satisfy yourself that what has been presented has a provable base in reality. I am glad most public schools have not adopted and anti-science policy.

Some of our greatest scientific thinkers were devoutly religious - maybe some of you here are missing something?

I can easily incorporate evolution into my world - so where does true intolerance lie?

Agreed! There are a couple of conservative posters who start a minimum of 1-2 threads/wk bashing Obama, Democrats in general, liberals in general, and the like.

I'm really really confused about your postings
1) What the hell does education in England have to do with Bush, or Republicans?
2) from the story
Primary school children in England will have to learn about evolution and British history under a shake-up of the national curriculum.

Dont we already teach evolution here? Why is this OUR worse nightmare?
