NEW YORK ā€“ The rumors are true, according to Sarah Palin: The McCain-Palin campaign was not a happy family. In Palin's new memoir, "Going Rogue," she confirms reports of tension between her aides and those of the 2008 Republican presidential candidate, Sen. John McCain. The vice presidential candidate confirms that she had wanted to speak on election night, but was denied the chance and says she was kept "bottled up" from reporters during the campaign.

It's nice to see that McCain "fully trusted" his pick for VP!

I think this is a premature thread since we haven't gotten our hands on the book yet. It's hard to comment.

Once you become a candidate, you cease to be an individual and become a product. Sara has always been about Team Sara and it came back to bite her. She was a liability to the ticket.

The Associated Press has done a preliminary fack check on the book, and it ain't pretty. Looks like she got her name right, but beyond that, well ....

FACT CHECK: Palin's book goes rogue on some facts - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091113/ap_on_el_pr/us_palin_book_fact_check;_ylt=AuvqFiUp7gyprCY8mSLA hyhsnwcF - broken link)

Here's the first one:
PALIN: Says she made frugality a point when traveling on state business as Alaska governor, asking "only" for reasonably priced rooms and not "often" going for the "high-end, robe-and-slippers" hotels.

THE FACTS: Although travel records indicate she usually opted for less-pricey hotels while governor, Palin and daughter Bristol stayed five days and four nights at the $707.29-per-night Essex House luxury hotel (robes and slippers come standard) overlooking New York City's Central Park for a five-hour women's leadership conference in October 2007. With air fare, the cost to Alaska was well over $3,000. Event organizers said Palin asked if she could bring her daughter. The governor billed her state more than $20,000 for her children's travel, including to events where they had not been invited, and in some cases later amended expense reports to specify that they had been on official business.

Should we really be surprised by this? After her first few famed speeches I am not surprised that they kept her from making any further ones. Her speeches seemed to bring more ridicule than praise and whether it is proper or not she will be long remembered for: "I can see Russia from my backyard" and "We (Alaska) are surrounded by foriegn nations." Although Canada is technically a foriegn nation I don't think any of us give them much though as a threat. In fact, they are so neighborly they are probably considered by most of us as just the part of the "family" located up north.

For this past election I honestly feel she hurt McCain but I do see her making a stronger name for herself and becoming a prime candidate for the next presidential election.

That's basically what it was. He felt that by having a woman by his side he would gain all the Clinton voters who were already feeling uneasy about Obama.

Sarah lying? Who would have thought? In print, no less. I guess she wouldn't understand the implications of that, after all, it was pretty well established she doesn't do much reading and assumes Americans don't either.... actually she may be right on that one.
