Hmmm. Pretty much the same old tired arguments as are seen every day in the Immigratiom subforum. Which, btw, is where this thread belongs...

Why are they "tired" arguments? I think these issues need to be discussed. I realize that they have been discussed quite a bit, but these are serious issues that need to be resolved. There are a lot of people from other countries being taken advantage of in addition to the people of this country. Illegal immigration is a serious issue and I don't consider it a tired argument just because the issue can't be resolved. The politicians in this country really need to wake up and listen to their constituents IMO.

Politicians listen very closely to their constituents, but not so much to the ones who make fundamentally flawed arguments based on ignorance and bigotry.

No, it doesn't.

"...our government has continued to crank out around 75,000 new permanent work permits to immigrants every month without any regard for how that might affect American workers."

The author is making a pitch to suspend permanent work visas during a period of unemployment over 5%.

If you read the whole thing it talks about legal immigration, too: 75,000 per month new permanent workers and 9,000 - 20,000 of them were illegals who got their green cards while here. Some others are students, tourists and workers who were allowed to stay after their visas ran out. The author says they should go home once their visas run out as they were supposed to leave, then.

The other sub-forum is for illegal immigration.

Not likely to happen. Constituents don't buy elections; they just pull the levers.

The immigration issue, will not be deemed a "tired" one until or unless definitive progress is made to rid our country of the ilegals, and then to severely limit ALL immigration, legal and illegal. At least until this country can rid itself of the vermin in DC and get on our feet again economically and otherwise.
