Seems a bit of a contradiction.

Further proof that Frau Palin is a "meglomaniac".

megalomania - Definition
1 : a mania for great or grandiose performance 2 : a delusional mental disorder that is marked by feelings of personal omnipotence and grandeur

The era is the early to mid 1940's. This nation was at war. A World War. We were a nation UNIFIED as never before - nor since. The motto was "Family, God, Country"

After WWII, the nation started to grow. New cities and towns sprung up all over America. And in each town were Churches - of different denominations and descriptions. Most of the residents went to church each Sunday and participated in the Church and town's activities. Children were raised to respect their parents and others. Please and Thank You were common phrases. But center of it all was religion. Then came another war....'er, "conflict" (Korea) and once again, our nation united behind our brave soldiers at war - for some, it was their second war.

Then in the late 60's some things started to change. It was the era of the civil rights movement and at the center of this movement was a Religious man by the name of King. And Churches of all denomination stepped forward to push a righteous agenda - civil rights. And no one complained that the churches were "politically involved".

Then came groups of young people who began a "free love" generation - the "Age of Aquarius" was born. There was a focus on drugs, booze - getting high was the thing to do at night. They started to get away from "organized religion".

Then came the 70's and another war - Vietnam. An unpopular war to be sure - and the protests turned violent. There were some who ran from going to way and, in many cases, turned to various churches for asylum - and they got it.

In the 80's - the "Me" generation saw more emphasis on material wealth than on Spiritual Wealth. People started ignoring the Commandments, and turned away from religion. And there was turmoil - there was financial crisis similar to that of today - foreclosures, job loses. But, there continued to be that group of people, older now perhaps, who kept "the faith" - and when times became difficult for one reason or another - they turned to their churches - their religion for help, guidance and comfort.

Perhaps Sarah Palin is right. When this nation was asking for the good Lords help - they got it. This nation was a much better, calmer place - people were nicer, there was lower crime - even though money was tight. Families were closer.l

Maybe - just maybe - Sarah is right.
Perhaps its human nature. But I always notice people have selective memories when talking about the past. I'll tell you one thing, compared to the conditions my parents lived in and the ones I live in now I wouldn't switch places in a million years.

Perhaps if Sarah Palin spent more time actually reading the bible herself, she wouldn't have allowed her teenaged daughter to have overnight nookie sessions with her boyfriend in her own home. Maybe then she wouldn't have had her kid knocked up at 16 years old

Or maybe put the girl on birth control, knowing that her boyfriend is "sleeping over".

I'm the first one to admit that technology has made doing things much easier. Like the 'lil box I am typing on right now.

But, if we lose sight of the Creator - God - we lose sight of what is really important in our lives.

It is encouraging when I read reports and studies of the resurgence of Religious "Clubs" or "Organizations" on our school campus's. We are seeing more young people attending Church on Sunday. We are seeing more of these young people giving of their time to help others - as God taught us to do.

Probably not, she would have been to engrossed in reading to notice.

But perhaps if she had spent more time with her daughter actually talking instead of preaching, her daughter would have felt comfortable enough to tell her mother she needed birth control pills.

Religious people can believe anything because there's no need to prove any of their beliefs. They just say that they have faith, and we're supposed to nod and accept them as sane, rational people.

Let me ask you for your opinion then of the Dali Lama - A wonderful and peaceful man. A man of God.

Do you consider him "insane" and "irrational"?

Well she might be right if everyone were a god believing christian. But that isn't what we are as a nation so how would that work exactly?

I am a strong advocate of America having something that the majority of it's citizens can rally around. A belief, an idea, a goal, anything. But god is not it.
