Social Security and Medicare coverage for retirees are not freebies. People worked a minimum of 10 years and paid into it to get those benefits. Most retirees have worked many more than the ten years.

While the question, as stated, can be interpreted in different ways, I took it to mean does a person feel they have a right to government freebies in order to get the basic necessities like food and shelter.

I don't know anyone who fits that description. Who do you know?

What i AM saying is that there is so much Hypocricy in the USA right now.
The "Elitists" do not mind Govt. help or bleeding the country dry when it helps them or bails them out. They do, however, scream against normal everyday Americans having Govt help ( a universal health option for example) and how this is wrong to get Govt help, as long as it doesn't affect the arrogant "Fat Cats". ........ This is Hypocricy with a capital H................ IDIOTS!

that's why obama is loved so much by the lazies. he is 'taking care of them' making sure they can sit back all day seven days and still get unemployment without job attempts and still have health insurance.

it's sickening.

we're sick of paying for it too.

But you don't mind paying billions for the Huge financial houses and Insurance companies to give criminal bonuses to the CEO's who get rich on the backs of their hard working employees. Now that is what i call "Lazy", Get paid for your workers efforts while you sit on your fat behind sipping champaign and getting your fat bonuses even if you destroy the company. Pathetic!

Yes. I do need the government to take care of me.

I use the roads that are made by government funds.
I receive utilities that are provided under certain specifications, guidelines, and safety protocols implemented by the government.
I eat food that has been prepared under guidelines and safety protocols implemented by the government.
I drive a vehicle that implements safety features by direction of the government.
If my house gets burglarized, I'll be more than willing to call the government-funded police.
If my house burns to the ground, I'll be more than willing to call the government-funded firestation.
And the list goes on.

There are many things in my life that are influenced by the government for which I am glad for. There are other things in my life that are influenced by the government for which I am unhappy for.

Do I receive direct assistance (such as WIC or Food Stamps)? No

But we all do receive assistance in one way or another. Some just use more assistance than others.

Absolutely!
People only scream against what the Govt spends on helping American Citizens when it doesn't affect them. The second they lose their joibs or cannot afford healthcare, they soon change their minds. We ALL get Govt help in some way and the Govt is voted in for the benefit of ALL Citizens not just the wealthy.

Because that's totally what I want.

No, I don't want the gov't to regulate health insurance so I can actually afford it.

No, I don't want to pay taxes into the system that I would use.

I totally want to sit back and be lazy and leech off of everyone else.

PROTIP:

Not everyone who supports the public health care plan is lazy or unemployed.
