Abortions should be rare but legal. I'm pro-choice except for unnecessary late-term abortions, and I have to say that Senator Boxer is being flippant and willfully ignorant for using such incendiary language. Not only does it cheapen the debate, but it also creates a wider divide between those on opposite sides of the abortion issue. Abortion is an invasive medical procedure not to be taken lightly. Abortion should not be considered a form of birth control nor should it be compared to an impotence medication.

Politicians both on the Left and Right should stop politicizing medical procedures/ issues, they just come off as ignoramuses and embarrassments to their constituents.

Oh, yeah. And we really trust and believe Barack Obama, huh?

It wasn' just Republicans that didn't want Abortion covered. It was Democats too. But they bribed them with money for their state. Marry Landrieu? Have you read the news? She wasn't going to vote for it for this reason — until they bought her vote. They bribed her. And she wasn't the only one.

Don't know exactly what's up with Senator Boxer, but if Viagra is covered by Federal health dollars, then all forms of birth control, including abortions and sterilizations should be covered as well. Equal treatment under the law.

Uhhhhh, Mike ... Abortion isn't "birth control" (well...it eliminates a live birth).

Besides, Viagra isn't "birth control" either.

I didn't know she was mayor of San Fran? I remember Alioto, then Feinstein ... did Boxer Follow Feinstein? Who is mayor now? I forget.

I lived in the area (I was in the Navy) when Alioto was mayor. (I lived weekends in Palo Alto. Week days at Treasure Island, and then over to Mare Island NSY.)

I don't think the suggestion was a serious one. Boxer made the comparison to to make a point that if a woman should have to get an insurance rider for a legal, reproductive procedure then men should have to do the same if they want Viagra covered. Boxer said the rider is just an attempt to limit women's rights again because the right-to-lifers will get a hold of the company's list of women who purchased the riders and they will be harassed.

Here's a newsflash for you, genius. Now try to keep up. The abortion controversy was NOT injected by Repubs. The LAW OF THE LAND is that no federal dollars go to fund abortion. End of story. The debate is in the law. Dems want to ignore that, as they do most laws.
