"US innovation slowed this year for the first time in 13 years as the recession cut into budgets, and costs to protect inventions rose… 'That's unfortunate because [patent filings] are a reflection of innovation,'" said the director of the Patent Office. "'Innovation creates so many jobs and so much opportunity for our country. It is absolutely key to our long-term success in a global economy.'" But patent filings were down 25% this year.

Recession's latest victim: U.S. innovation - Dec. 11, 2009

It's not the recession that's killing innovation. What's killing innovation is the Democrat Party and President Obama. They are not kindling the human spirit to create better ways. This is not how you create innovation. This is not how you inspire people to innovate: when you are on the verge of passing legislation that will destroy the private sector, raise taxes, and punish achievement… and have a pay czar out there. If you succeed too much, the pay czar is going to be knocking on your door and telling you how much you can pay yourself and your other employees. It is not the recession killing innovation. In fact, innovation is largely key coming out of recessions. If there's no innovation going on out there, it's because nobody is being inspired to it and we know why: The Democrat Party and President Obama."

the above quote sums it out perfectly....GOD help us we still have three years left....

How would the human spirit have innovation drive, with this current President and Administration. They have no drive for doing so. why would they even be inspiried, by what.

This world is full of morons.

We have the most serious recession since the great depression - starting in December of 2007 - and you want to blame President Obama?

Plus, if you can't even correctly name the dominant political party in this country, you should probably not post here.

Innovation works with or without recession. During the Great Depression, there were still many innovations developed. What matters is a small business friendly environment to capitalize on such innovation. When corporations and consumers get first dibs on loans before small business, well you get this.

Do not worry, it will be here soon.

Obama has crippled this country in many ways. All on purpose and as part of his plan.

He learned all of this from the Alinksy rules for radicals book.

Purposely cripple everything so you can have control of it all.

Sounds like the GOP platform, actually. Insist that government is the problem, do everything they can to prove it by crippling it, and yet, they still want to be in charge of it all. Remember "Permanent Republican Majority?"

But don't let me stomp all over your insane conspiracy theory. Keep it up!
