There have been two terrorist attacks in the US since Obama has been president.
How soon some forget Richard Reed, 22 December 2001!
Would care to compare the death tolls of Bush's two vs Obama's?
I wish you folks would stop playing politics with terrorism, which will be with us for quite a few years to come regardless as to who is President or what party they represent.
"Understandbly, the White House is trying very hard to get out in front of the would-be Christmas bomber story. The head of the Department of Homeland Security isn't helping.
I watched her on three shows and each time she was more annoying, maddening and absurd than the pevious appearance. It is her basic position that the "system worked" because the bureaucrats responded properly after the attack. That the attack was "foiled" by a bad detonator and some civilian passengers is proof, she claims, that her agency is doing everything right.
That is just about the dumbest thing she could say, on the merits and politically. I would wager that not one percent of Americans think the system is "working" when terrorists successfully get bombs onto planes (and succeed in activating them). Probably even fewer think it's fair that they have to take off their shoes, endure delays and madness while a known Islamic radical — turned in by his own father — can waltz onto a plane (and into the country).
DHS had no role whatsoever in assuring that this bomb didn't go off. By her logic if the bomb had gone off, the system would have "worked" since it has done everything right.
Napolitano has a habit of arguing that DHS is a first responder outfit. Its mission is to deal with "man-caused-disasters" afer they occur. It appears she really believes it. If the White House wants to assure people that it takes the war on terror seriously (a term Robert Gibbs used this morning by the way), they could start by firing this patenly unqualified hack."
When somebody who looks like me and shares my Christian religion starts blowing up planes, then by God, start screening me at airports. Otherwise, limit the screening to people who look like terrorists who have blown up planes and share the muslim religion.

Is the FBI under DHS? No.
Is the CIA under DHS? No.
Is the NSA under DHS? No.
Is DHS even responsible for maintaining the Terrorist Screening Data Base? No!
Who exactly is the terrorist investigative agency under DHS? Ain't none!
The Secret Service is the only agency under DHS that actually performs anything like preventive terrorist investigations by use of financial data, that's about it. And, as pointed out earlier, TSA plays no role in foreign airports.
certainly the news is trying to take both sides of the story, since some media sources say he was on a "no fly" list and some that he wasn't. however, the fact is that his own father reported him as a problem and if he wasn't on a list HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN.
Based on what specific, actionable evidence should he have been placed on a no-fly list?
Here's what was apparently known before this incident:
"The father -- identified by a family source as Umaru Abdul Mutallab -- contacted the U.S. Embassy "a few weeks ago" saying his son, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, had "become radicalized,""
Hardly specific, let alone actionable.
"The source, who lives at the family home in Kaduna in northern Nigeria, said the son informed his family in the text message that he was leaving school in Dubai to move to Yemen. He implied that he was leaving "for the course of Islam.""
He implied or did they infer? Where's the evidence of what he actually said?
"When Abdulmutallab returned to Nigeria from London, he told his family he wanted to get a second college degree in Egypt or Saudi Arabia, the family source said. The family refused, because they were worried that he may have developed ties to some dubious people. He went to Dubai, instead, the source said, where he sent a text message saying he had gone to Yemen to start a new life, and that it would be difficult for anyone to reach him because he had thrown away his SIM card."
So, what we have is a father's concern about the company his son is allegedly keeping, though not necessarily any specific names or associations, a vague reference to a non-specific text message that was interpreted to mean something without actually stating it outright, and defying his parents to go to a country where terrorist activity is happening and telling them he's starting a new life and throwing away his SIM card.
Based on that, he was put on a watch list, but I anxiously await your reasoned explanation for his inclusion on a no-fly list as you allege he should have been. Remember, you don't have hindsight to work with here.

Everyone should be vigilant, take notice of your surroundings, and report suspicious items or activities to local authorities immediately. Suspected Criminal or Terror Activity
So. What was the liberals' excuse this time for the latest Islamic terrorist attack against westerners? Was he feeling "stressed"? How often did they invoke Timothy McVeigh, anyone keep count?
God Bless America. He was watching over us as we celebrated his glorious holiday with our families. Allah has abandoned the muslim fundamentalists.
OP-Care to explain how you equalize terrorists with liberals?
Thanks.
