So, when the president cautiously suggests that the Republicans are rooting for economic failure, he is only scratching the surface. It's more than that. They are rooting against the president. They are rooting for his political destruction. They are working for it. They are literally praying for it. When we liberals try to awaken him to this fact, it is not because we are trying to hurt him. It is because we are trying to protect him. We are this president's friends. The Republicans are anything but.

This is a hypothetical question for the republicans in CD. Would you prefer the economy not recover under Obama?

Of course they don't. If the economy recovers it would show the adminstration has made progress. Anything the administration suggests is met with resistance. Even if previous Administrations took the exact same steps to stabalize the economy.

Don't know about those in Congress, but conservatives want the people (legalized citizens) in the country to prosper through their own hard work - not through handouts from the government.

Question - Do Democrats want Obama to succeed regardless of how the people of the country benefit?

No we do not want this economy to remain in the dump. We like money remember?

I do recall however how absolutely giddy the left wing press was when the economic numbers were dismal under Bush and how they appeared to be concerned, yet excited at the prospect of a well timed crash and what that meant to the election.

What a silly question. The Dems own the government right now and can do/pass whatever they want.

And Republican taxpayers ? Is there a mass movement for them to not purchase anything or deal with any banks to take this country down ?

This economy will remain in the dump for years.
Who's at fault ? Why just look in the mirror.

I did, numerous times...unfortunately, one of my senators NEVER responded, and the other one, while he did send a "canned" letter, still voted against my wishes.
I think EVERYONE wants our economy to improve...it would be stupid NOT to want that...but I'm not sure the things our "representatives" are doing will improve anything except their egos!

It's obvious to a blind man - YES - the Republicans in Congress want to economy to fail (stay in deep recession - high unemployment) - because they see that as their best chance to get back into power.

It's not about what's best for the country - it's about what is best for the politicians...

There is absolutely no-way that Republicans would have such unanimous opposition to most things the Democrats want to do if they did not wish them to fail...

And the Dems wanted the economy and war efforts to fail when the Republicans were in power.

It cuts both ways...

The economy is more than just Dems vs Reps. Our economy is global now. We are a consumer nation, not a producer nation.

The global economy will recover with or without the US. We will be left wallowing in debt that we cannot pay off to other countries. In case you hadn't noticed, China is flexing their financial muscle and countries are caving in to their demands.

They are counting on it. Look at the replies any time someone posts any good news. They want and NEED bad news, since they have no ideas or soltions themselves thay can only rely on things being bad to make them look good. Problem is when things do improve (and they are) they will have Nothing.
