A strong benevolent hand needs to seize control.......take over. PERIOD. We need to look the Haitian Prez in the eye a say it's over. Only then can we trust the the money will help who it needs to help and infrastructure will be built the right way......American industries can set up up there ...providing jobs......tourism and hotels......American military protection......setting up a democratic voting system......representatives and mayors......elections.....schools....better building codes.
It sounds radical. But it makes sense. I don't understand why anyone would disagree with that.
If we make it a good place to live. That will keep Haitian there and make them stronger and decrease illegal immigration as well.
Thoughts....?

I vote no. These people committed themselves to be a sovereign, and assisting them in that cause intelligently is the only thing I'd be willing to get behind. Their culture is distinct, and forcing them to assimilate to americanism is inappropriate. It would only feed into negative historical aspects of colonialism.
Jamaica is a prime example, being pressured into Globalization by R's, D's & international finance, have a very bitter taste in their mouth. They feel their very government sold them out to large corporations who at one point were importing asian laborers willing to work for less to avoid paying Jamaicans a living wage. Global market has harmed a delicate economic situation. Know that when these policies harm them, they assign an american face as culprit. Who represents us, and the policies they create, should be thoroughly scrutinized. Bad foreign policy= the seeds of future wars.
