I'd hate to see it but if enough Southerners feel that way...why not? Smaller countries are run better anyway (except for Haiti).

Quebec people feel the same way. They don't get to secede though.

In my opinion;
I think the South should be allowed to separate, although since the south has a large portion of oil refining states the "Union" would never let that happen. Many moons ago the union declared war on the south (yes, they did it first. Also, this is why it is so hard for any administration to deploy troops on American soil. i.e. Hurricane Katrina) over "land" not slavery (The Confederate President Jefferson Davis at that time was already in the process of making slavery illegal). For any administration to let these oil producing States go would be economical suicide, esp. with the way the Union has restricted any further oil production in order to save a tree. The remaining States would fall apart within a year if this happened and Washington knows it.

Actually now would be a BETTER idea... The South didn't have the infrastructure 150 years ago to support itself. It does now though...

As for who needs who? Check where that "rust belt" is again... It ain't down South....

That said, I don't think the South is going anywhere. The Atlantic Coast, Tennessee, etc... seem pretty solid...

Right now it seems like Texas and Vermont are the leading contenders, but it isn't a North vs. South thing so much...

I'd promote a Constitutional convention that kicked New England,New York,and other Socialist empires out. No need to secede-Just expel

They are the issue. Always have been

Well, Quebec would have seceded had a majority of the population voted in favour of it in 1995...

LoL, why not? If it's the same group that did the last time national GDP and education rates would go up. Only 1 South Eastern state (Florida) is in the top 10 GDP by state.
