I suspect there is a significant number of Dems in Congress secretly hoping that Brown will win the election in Mass. They hope a Brown victory will scuttle the Obama/Pelosi/Reid health care bill and thus spare them the choice of voting for a measure hugely unpopular with their constituents or opposing their president on the signature issue of his presidency. By the same token there may actually be some Republican stategists who secretly hope that Coakley wins, thus assuring passage of some version of health care reform and keeping alive the anger of the grassroots until the 2010 elections.

I agree.

I hope not. I don't want any form of that monstrosity to pass. There will be more opportunities to become energized.

I suspect you are right at some level. Most of our senators and representative are smart enough to realize we can not afford the monstrosity that is the Senate health care bill, and that it can do nothing but increase the cost of health care and devistate the country financially. Yet they prefer to march in lockstep with their party and attempt to appease their base. Having this bill blocked by the Republicans gets them out of an untenable situation...plus allows them to blame the Rs for the failure to do meaningful reform.

Brown's victory will be the best thing to happen to the dems b/c they will be forced to move a bit to the right, and that will increase their chances of being re-elected in Nov.

Sort of like the democrats have burned their bridges behind them with health care, and it's dragging them over the cliff, and then Brown flies in to rescue them from themselves? If Brown wins and they can blame republicans for any and all health related woes, even though their bill would not have provided anything for 4 years.

Yes, the hapless and hateful Dems, always seeking a scapegoat.
