Lanny J. Davis: Blame the Left for Massachusetts - WSJ.com

Quote:
By LANNY J. DAVIS

Liberal Democrats might attempt to spin the shocking victory of Republican Scott Brown in Massachusetts by claiming that the loss was a result of a poor campaign by Martha Coakley. Would that it were so. This was a defeat not of the messenger, but of the message—and the sooner progressive Democrats face up to that fact, the better.
Remember, right after the dems in the Senate passed their version of the bill, behind closed doors, making back room dirty deals, the media finally picked up obama's long lost promise on HC on Cspan, thanks in part to CSpan challenging the dems to NOT resort to secrecy and "politics as usual". This was picked up widely by the MSM, to the detriment of obama and the dems.

This is when Brown started to surge in Mass.

Just can't believe that kind of hyper-partisan double dealing would go unnoticed by the people.

The "message" has been completely repudiated, the very ideal that the dems have had for 70 years, the way they went about putting the legislation together and the arrogance they showed time again as they ignored all the polls, ignored the people screaming at them to stop.

Now, it took the loss of one of the Bluest seats in the nation to stop the madness.......a humiliating turn of events for obama.

Somehow, in the last 12 months, we allowed the party of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama to morph into the party of George McGovern
Lanny, Lanny, Lanny, obama was ALWAYS left of McGovern. Some of us knew this 3 years ago and we warned you too...but no one would listen.

They are in denial still. I have read of every excuse in the book. Still waiting for one of them to admit the truth.

Its really funny listening to Maddow saying things that soumd like hitler;we must fight on regardless of what the voters are saying. Anyone who doesn't is a politcal coward.Bascailly he has indirectly called Obam's statement today that of a coward. The party is blaming it on the candidate but they fail to address why the reason where even evident simce Obama took office and why the same thng has happen in new jersey and virginia. They basically don't egt that it they that have not listened to the voters and that the policies as has been evident for sometime if they listened have been rejected.A mid term elction shpuld be a low turnout easy win for any president with any coattails. The fact that p[eople turned out in large numbers to send a message is losss on the left wing of the democratic aprty and like Hitler they are urging democrats to go down with Pelosi and Reid.

I will admit that Coakley lost because she has the personality of a rotting potato.

I hate that the Dems lost the Senate seat but in all honesty, if I were an average Massachusetts voter, with limited political knowledge and lacking in sophistication, I probably would have voted for Scott Brown too (given those two options)

Underestimating the MA voters was a major Democratic mistake which they can not afford. It was an insult to have a lackluster candidate such as Coakley to take the seat of such a dynamic, legendary figure as Ted Kennedy.

Not every Democrat is part of "the left."
There are Conservative Democrats. Why they just don't join the Republican party is beyond me.

Because there are no true conservatives left in the GOP. They all act like the ones you see here...
