What do Liberals/Progressives tell their kids? (generation, Obama, how much)

In another thread Republicans/Conservatives had the opportunity to share what they tell their children about their political ideology and their own personal values.

I'd love to hear what progressives/liberals tell their kids. What makes big government so appealing to you and why do you think it's good for your kids - both in the short term and in the long run?

Sorry. I didn't realize there was already a thread on this.

But, after reading through that thread, I'm still not sure I understand which values Liberals think are important to teach to their children.

Example:

What do they think about school? Should kids work hard in all subjects or focus on what they love to learn about?

Should some professionals (like doctors, CPAs, engineers, etc) command more pay than other professionals?

How big a role should government play in our lives? How much personal freedom should we have?

How do they prepare their child for life in a progressive/liberal world?

My 11 year old son is very interested in politics and we talk about it frequently. Many of his classmates at school debate politics as well. One of them has an Obama pin and t-shirt that he wears at least once per week.

I think it's great that our next generation is taking an interest in our country and want to learn about the politics and how it runs, etc. I don't understand why you find that hard to believe?
