If he holds a civilian trial, he makes the far left and the ACLU happy, while angering many Americans about the cost, location and of course, granting of certain rights to KSM.
If he changes course, the majority of Americans will agree, but the far left will be up in arms. He'll also be seen as a waffler.
My prediction: he goes for military tribunal, but throws blame on Bush/Republicans (tainted evidence, fear-mongering, whatever he thinks will stick). Oh, and will never admit that he was wrong.
