Americans Reject Keynesian Economics - Rasmussen Reports™

Quote:
In fact, 59% think Keynes had it backwards and that increasing the deficit at this time would hurt the economy rather than help.

To help the economy, most Americans (56%) believe that cutting the deficit is the way to go.

Eighty-three percent (83%) of Americans, in fact, say the size of the federal budget deficit is due more to the unwillingness of politicians to cut government spending than to the reluctance of taxpayers to pay more in taxes.
One good thing to come out of obama's push to implement his big ticket, massive government expansion agenda - the country is reminded of WHY far left democrats do not occupy the Oval Office very often.

This is a perfect lesson of the evils of liberalism.

I really doubt a significant portion of Americans even understand how Keynes economics work. And once again Sanrene gets nailed.

The evils of liberalism?

What about the statement of one of your heroes, Dick Cheney: "Deficits don't matter?'

Picking and choosing your evils are ya?

This is why our government shuns the whole idea of direct democracy and is structured instead to shield our elected representatives from the vagaries of popular passion. Through little fault of their own, the masses are ignorant and can all too easily be manipulated by the misguided and self-serving appeals to emotion of demagogues. This is all that allows the Republican Party the slim strands of its continuing existence.

I agree lets cut the deficit and I say we slash spending on the military in half. Why are we in hundreds of nations anyways with bases? and tens of thousands of troops?
There are cities and towns in America that practically wouldn't exist without a military presence and they are usually in "RED" states!
I guess nobody recognized Dubya's massive spending either and all done under the guise of "terrorism".
Thank you for the Rasmussen poll which is a right wing outfit from Conservative Nebraska.
Sanrene we are tired of the right wing's "arm chair" politics which borders on emotion with a bit of absolute hysteria.
I guess we should take our cues from Rush, Hannity and every other right wing political pundit since they know what is best for America besides their multi million dollar paychecks!

You are selfish. Think about it. The things you take for granted! The freedoms I enjoy and you enjoy should be a universal right and enjoyed by everyone. That's why.

Care to point out exactly where in the Constitution the US government is tasked with that near impossible job? Or explain why so many of the same folks who oppose spending US $$$ on Americans, they run in terror screaming SOCIALSM!, have NO problem spending US $$$ in feeble attempts to shape the world?

I tried to rep you again, but couldn't. Just wanted to say that, political party jabs aside, you hit the nail on the head in both understanding how our nation was designed and the dangerous influence of uninformed masses.

I've noticed that, as Obama's policies begin to show signs of success, there are more and more of his perpetual haters posting popular opinion polls rather than substantive policy arguments. I think Obama overestimated the intelligence of the population, actually, to see the bigger picture.

Unfortunately for them, while the undereducated and unaware population gets emotionally frustrated by deficits and spending, the economists who actually know what they are talking about are working through a very well established process.

The result? A dropping unemployment rate, increased rates of hiring, and a stabilizing economy.

ooh look.. its saggy again with her non stop meaningless attacks which have absolutely positively nothing to do with the thread..

We are discussing keynesian economics, not Republicans..

I do find it humorous that all of the hateful name calling on this thread so far have been from Democrats.. One even went so far to call another poster a wench... Woo hoo.. way to make an argument..
