Would you be for or against the manufacturing of buses, high speed trains, wind turbines, and solar panels in America?

If such a plan was to be introduced in Congress, would you want your "representative" to be for or against it? Why?

I would love for Congress to introduce a bill that improve our infrastructure and increase the amount of energy we get from renewable energy that would include a strong "Buy American" provision. China pushes solar, wind power development - USATODAY.com

A bill increasing the gas tax would also be welcomed. We can use the increase in the tax to fund a national mass transit system and money to fix our crumbling infrastructure.

I'm watching a program on PBS about a vision to remake Detroit and a vision to remake the transportation infrastructure in America. Blueprint America | PBS

The proposed high speed train for Ohio will be a waste of money.

And no one could afford to use it.

22.00 to even get on the train that will only run from 8am to 10pm

From Cincy to Columbus to Cleveland will still take 4 1/2 hours. Now that is not high speed.

Plan is to run it at 41 mph.

I can drive it in 4 hours and wont have to be back to board the stupid thing by 10 pm.

Wont work here at all, not cost effective and surely not of any good use having limited hours.

Total waste of money.

I am for wind, solar and nuclear power.

As long as Americans manufacture the parts so I am with you on that one!

We can rebuild our cities by using American manufactured goods and American workers.

41 MPH is NOT high speed.
I would look into the Spain high-speed rail project. I think we can learn some things from them.

I would also be in favor of bus rapid transit in mid-size cities.

For the manufacturing as the market demands and against government subsidizing of such manufacturing.

high speed trains,
Amtrak is already heavily subsidized and loses billions annually however what I would support is increased funding for freight. You'll kill a lot of birds with that stone, much more efficient than trucking and probably more important you'll get a lot of trucks off the interstates. Trucks are basically destroyers of roads and bridges.

Very expensive not even in the ballpark yet to compete with coal.

All that stuff costs a lot of money, who's going to pay for it?

The average tax on gallon of gas is already up above 50 cents. Note the states where it is highest, they have the colors backwards.

I think most American's would agree that the additional manufacturing jobs would be welcome. As for Congress introducing a bill, it depends on what you mean by that? Robbing Peter to pay Paul is far from the right solution. If the legislation is such that it rewards innovation, speed, and productivity, then im' all for it. But if it aims to penalize another legitimate industry, then i'm adamently against it.

As for the gas tax, be careful what you wish for. But it should be noted that Congress has already stated outwardly that there is no political appetite for an increased gas tax. Pelosi, in fact, is the person who said this. Furthermore, DOT Secretary LaHood has stated that he supports a "per mile driven tax." How do you think this would be accomplished? By a GPS in your car counting every mile and calculating a tax based on the type of road you travel on. This is a real possibility, look it up.

While its noble to pursue renewable energy and manufacturing jobs, you need to ask yourself if you really trust your Congress to put a plan like this in action.
