Yup, touting a " green energy " stimulus as a job maker and follow the majority of funds to oversea companies paying the wages of workers in their country.

After watching ABC Nightly News do an investigative reporting tracking the stimulus money, it is enough to make one sick.

The Chinese are laughing their asses off, they'll be building windmills and solar panels using energy from coal and shipping them over here. Paid for by your tax dollars and raising electric rates for both you and manufacturers here.

Haven't seen what the OP is referring to but it's already happening. Here's a recent example where the company was given a lot of incentives from the state of Massachusetts:

Quote:
Boston firm shifts 'green jobs' to China | Washington Examiner (http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/blogs/beltway-confidential/Boston-firm-shifts-green-jobs-to-China-69366472.html - broken link)

"In exchange for receiving $58.6 million in grants, loans, land, tax incentives, and other aid to build in Massachusetts, Evergreen pledged that it would add 350 new jobs, a goal that it has, to date, far surpassed. However, the company disclosed in a financial filing yesterday that it would write off $40 million worth of equipment at Devens because of the production shift to China," the Globe reported.

"The company has been a poster child of the Patrick administration’s efforts to develop a 'green energy' industry cluster in Massachusetts. But it has been struggling financially because of increased competition from overseas producers and rapidly falling prices for solar products. It recently persuaded the state to lend it another $5 million to cover equipment purchases, though the state has not yet released the funds," the Globe said.

Evergreen has lost at least $167 million so far in 2009, according to the Globe. Last year during the same period, the company's losses totalled only $33.6 million. Following announcement of the move to China, the company's stock closed at $1.42 per share, down six cents per share.

While on the topic that's not because they suddenly became cheaper to make, it's because countries like Spain slashed subsidies and stopped buying them.

I saw this report on TV. It's outrageous and proof this administration is completely clueless about the problems with jobs in this country. They can create all the green jobs they want, but there is nothing to keep companies taking the money using labor in China and other places to do the actual work.

In this particular case, 1000s of Chinese workers are building wind turbines purchased with stimulus money while at the same time American workers in the same kind of plant are being laid off. The Obama Administration refuses to admit this might be a problem. (so far) Apparently there are no Buy America provisions in the stimulus.

This is actually nothing new, they are just piling on more to what they already get. Wind and solar plants already receive substantial tax breaks and incentives from the federal, state and local level. The average deal proabaly exceeds 50% of the plants cost.

You don't get it. The point of the stimulus money was to put Americans to work. I don't doubt the Chinese are building this stuff, but that isn't the point here and why people should be outraged at the completely incompetant administration behind this tax money.
