Her looks definitely played a role, especially when she was introduced to the country as McCain's choice for VP. At this point, though, we're used to seeing her, and just like in a personal relationship, good looks only go so far. Once you become aware of who is really behind the pretty face, your opinion can change dramatically.
Palin needs a lot more than her looks if she wants to be President.
Oh in reference to my previous post where I wrote "Ivory" instead of "Ivy" it was not a mistake I meant what I wrote. I'm sure some of you can figure it out
Absolutely not. Sad that with all of our "advancements" and achievements, women are still only valued for their looks.
I think it's a stretch to say that women are only valued for their looks. You have to consider that men are much more visually-oriented than women are when it comes to finding someone attractive. You also have to look at all of the achievements that average-looking women have accomplished.
Also, if Palin had more substance to offer, her looks wouldn't matter so much. She is obviously using her appearance to her advantage; otherwise, she wouldn't have been entering beauty contests when she was younger, and she wouldn't be presenting herself the way she does today.
Aren't her supporters mostly men? I just see them as a bunch of current and past frat boys.
I remember reading a news story in '08 that said men usually outnumber women at Palin rallies by about 3 to 1.
