Where in the Constitution is the Federal Government given the authority to compel someone to purchase health insurance?
Since those of you on the left obviously thoroughly reject our founding and governing documents (The Declaration and the Constitution), what are the limits on the power of the Federal Government, and where do they come from?
For it to be constitutional, all doctors, nurses, pharmacists, or anyone involved in healthcare, would have to become an employee of the government and your mandate on forced payment for government services, would be additional taxes.
Advocates for healthcare reform, or really any social program run by the federal government(medicare/medicaid/social security/welfare/etc) could really care less whether the constitution gives them permission to pass universal healthcare. They believe this is a democracy, so if the people(through their representatives) want universal healthcare, then there will be universal healthcare. And it will be validated by the open-ended "commerce clause" by activist empathic judges.

And if you really believe the Republican party gives a crap about the constitution, then you are also mistaken. Both parties give lip-service to the constitution, but the words, meanings, and history behind the constitution are completely lost in their political agenda's. And all of them desire to have control over everyone elses lives, because they think they know best.

If you know anything about the declaration of independence(which created basically zero federal government power at all) and the constitution(which formed a republic, and the constitution itself and the bill of rights was created almost entirely as a limitation on the federal government) then you'll realize why both parties could care less about the constitution. In fact, the Bill of rights doesn't even apply to the states. The Bill of rights only existed as a limitation on the federal government. It had been tested all through the early 1800's. It wasn't until the unconstitutional 14th amendment(go look it up), which paved the way for the federal government to begin expanding exponentially(go read about the reconstruction), that all of the sudden they decided that the Bill of Rights should apply to the states.

I'm fully aware of both documents, what i'm not aware of is the broad statement the OP made concerning the "Left" rejecting them.
