Why wasn't this story picked up? Why is the prosecutor not asking for the death penalty? If this was a man, you bet your arse that would have been the first thing asked.

What happens in Maryland, stays in Maryland.

They probably know they wouldn't be able to get a death penalty conviction given the new rules in Maryland. Maryland Legislature Passes Bill Restricting Use of Death Penalty | Death Penalty Information Center What a sick and twisted B#@$ch. She deserves death. A slow and painful death.

Anyone committing a heneous crime against a child should receive the death penalty, no question about it.

Gov. O'Malley imposed a moratorium on the death penalty upon taking office three years ago. He has asked the Legislature each session since then for a repeal of it.

Quite frankly the reason that this has not been "national" news is because it is truly a local story. It has had wide play here. I live in the County where the girls were found, although it's thought they were killed elsewhere, and it has been big news here.

I hesitate to throw this into the mix but the woman and children are Black, which may have something to do with the perceived lack of coverage. I don't know whether if they were White it would be a bigger story or not. The locals would have highlighted it in either case.

That is one of the most sickening stories I've ever read. What a psychopath. Is there any evidence that she was a meth or crack addict? People on those drugs can become totally dissociated from reality, incapable of feeling empathy or behaving like an ordinary human being.

It's difficult to wrap my head around what she did. Whatever her sentence is, I don't really care. She's not going to have another opportunity to destroy the lives of children and that's all that really matters.

Well, one other thing matters... where was the oversight from the system that placed those special-needs girls in her care? How could she be allowed to hide the girls for at least 3 years? Some heads should roll in the social welfare system of Maryland.
